SEI Recruiting Process

Recruiting

Surrounding Ourselves
with the Right People

By carefully implementing the six stages below, we have been able to hire the talented and motivated individuals who make up our great team. Our recruiting process consistently helps us hire people who are right for SEI.

Six Stages of the SEI Recruiting Process
Stage One
Introductory Phone Conversation

We start our recruitment process with a phone call to:
ptr
Discuss opportunities a candidate is seeking
ptr
Provide information about SEI and the open position
ptr
Review a candidate's previous experience
Stage Two
Chronological Interview

This interview with our Talent Acquisition Team is conducted via video technology whenever possible, as we consider our applicants more than just the facts on a piece of paper. We cover in greater depth and detail the candidate's work history and accomplishments. In addition, we determine if the candidate shares SEI philosophies and has the traits and talents we are looking for.

Stage Three
Meet the Hiring Manager
During the interview with the hiring manager, candidates recap their work history and answer questions built on traits of our most successful employees. The hiring manager speaks more in detail about their expectations of the role and discusses the team they would potentially be joining.

Stage Four
"Ride-Along" with an Employee

Next day is spent on the job, shadowing an employee in a relevant position of interest. Employees are encouraged to answer questions about the company and share their experiences openly and honestly. Employees review virtually everything involved in the day-to-day responsibilities of their position.

Candidates appreciate the insights of the ride-along experience. They see it as an opportunity to interact in a new work environment with (potentially) new colleagues and to ask those questions that they might not feel comfortable asking a prospective manager. The ride-along gives a candidate a sense of confidence about joining SEI if offered the position.

Stage Five
Final Interviews

The next stage in the process is the final interviews with key hiring managers. Candidates may meet with multiple managers who they would interact with on the job and they are provided an opportunity to ask any remaining questions. Various managers are able to share their perspective of the candidate for a comprehensive review of the prospective employee.

Stage Six
The Offer

We follow up the final interviews by calling at least three of the references provided by the candidate, two of whom must be managers the candidate has worked for. We pay attention to how the reference answers our questions. For instance, if the reference seems to regret losing the candidate or if there is a lack of enthusiasm about the candidate's performance, it may serve as indication of their suitability. We also look for insight into how best to utilize a candidate's strength.

Due to the intensity of our process, candidates are able to form a clear understanding of the position and of our company. The right candidate is truly ready to join the team before an offer is even extended, because he or she believes that SEI is the right company for them.
