By carefully following our proven five step approach, we are able to build a great team. Our recruiting process consistently helps us hire people who are right for SEI.
Steps of our Recruiting Process
Step One
Phone interview covering:

arrow A candidate's previous experience
arrow Opportunities a candidate is looking for
arrow Information about SEI and the
   open position


Step Two
Face-to-Face Interview with Manager

We cover the same ground in the phone interview, but in more depth -- job history, why a candidate is looking for a position and the type of opportunity desired. We also ask questions to determine if a candidate shares our values and philosophies and has the traits and talents we look for.


Step Three
Phone Assessment
with Gallup Corporation

If we believe a candidate is a good fit for our company and our position, a phone assessment with the Gallup Corporation is scheduled. Gallup identifies the talents and assesses whether these talents line up with the position requirements.
Step Four
"Ride Along" with an Employee

Next is the "ride along", which is a day on the job shadowing an employee in a position similar or the same as the open position. Employees are encouraged to share opinions and answer questions about SEI openly and honestly.

Experiencing the ride along gives a candidate a greater level of comfort about joining SEI if offered the position.


Step Five
Final Interview

The last step in the process is to interview with our managers. When possible, at the coprorate office in Grand Rapids to allow a candidate to form a big picture view of our company. There is the opportunity to talk with managers in several related departments and the time to ask any remaining questions. There is a last look at a candidate from the perspectives of three or four managers.

After the final interview, we call at least three of the references provided, two of whom must be managers the candidate has worked for.
